Charity Ball 2009: Gotham Gala

Hey everyone!

Just wanted everyone to know that Charity Ball 2009 tickets go on sale today for $10.

The theme this year is Gotham Gala. The event is on Friday, January 23rd from 9pm – 1am in the UHALL atrium.
 
If you are interested in buying tickets, please contact me at nvelazqu@lion.lmu.edu or Joel Ewing at jewing3@lion.lmu.edu. We each need to sell our allotment of 10 tickets. Exact change is appreciated.

Welcome back ASCE!

Happy belated New Year everyone!!
 
Just 3 things:
 
1.  I hope you all are well rested and thank you to those who have been actively participating in ASCE related work this winterbreak - you make me so proud!
 
2.  There is much to look forward to this semester as we prepare for conference and continue fundraising.  As such, I would love to have 1) an E-Board meeting on Tuesday (1/13) during Convo in the back office of the CE lab and also 2) a general meeting this Thursday (1/15) during convo in P-109.  These meetings will be very brief to get us jumpstarted and oriented for the new year!
 
3.  The 2008 annual report is also due very soon and Charlene has been working very hard piecing it all together.  Please make her job easier by:
 
1.  Nik Garcia - write the event summary for the steel bridge of PSWRC 2008 and also Club Fest 2008
2.  Sean Ryan - write the event summary for dodge ball this past December
3.  Any junior volunteer for writing the event summaries for the Malibu fieldtrip with Rocky and/or the Death Valley fieldtrip
4.  Give me or Charlene your national ASCE ID# - Sean Ryan, Brian Bull, Emelina Novoa, Daniel Stancin, Andy Bartush, Eric Linnert.  If you have not signed up, do so online.  If you’re already a member and have forgotten your number, please call  (800… or  (703) 295-6300 . 
 
These 4 items must be completed by noon Tuesday (1/13).  If you have any questions or concerns, PLEASE let me know immediately!  I’ll see you all this week!

Tower Pizza Fundraiser

The Tower Pizza Fundraiser is this Wednesday night (Dec. 3rd) from 6pm-9pm.  Tell your roommates, friends, classmates about coming out to support ASCE.  Tower Pizza will donate 20% of the tab to ASCE.  You must bring in the green flyer and attach it to the receipt.  This is very important!  Flyers will be available in the CE lab.  Write your name on the back of the flyers so we know who shows up on Wednesday because of your fundraising persistence.  If you haven’t been participating in enough fundraisers, this is a great and easy way to fulfill that requirement and earn some money.

ASCE Meeting Thursday (MANDATORY!!!!)

There will be an ASCE meeting this Thursday to discuss further details about Airline tickets to conference as well as the results of last week’s Taco Night Fundraiser.

$300 Deposit Update (No longer $400)

Great news!
 
Due to some recent developments (within the past 1/2 day) we are able to reduce the deposit amount for conference to $300 instead of $400.  Since only 7 people have turned in their deposits and 6 have notified me of a need for an extension, we have to try a different approach to getting you all to conference.
 
Thank you to all those who turned in their deposits today.  They will be returned to you on Thursday during the meeting so that you may use this money toward booking your airflight with your own credit card over the phone, since the CE Department will no longer book the flights on our behalf.  YOU MUST ATTEND THIS THURSDAY’S MANDATORY MEETING (LAST MEETING OF THE SEMESTER) IN ORDER TO CONFIRM YOUR ATTENDANCE TO CONFERENCE.  Failure to do so will exclude your name from the group list which will be submitted to American Airlines.
 
Flights are for $488.40 at the moment and you will be reimbursed $188.40 (so you’re only responsible for $300).  Further details will be discussed this Thursday, which is why it is critical that you attend this meeting.  If for some dire reason you are unable to attend, YOU MUST NOTIFY ME IMMEDIATELY!

ASCE Meeting Time Changed

We will have our meeting as previously scheduled for Tuesday of next week, 11/18 at 12:15pm in P-109instead of this Thursday. 
 
Just as a reminder:  I have already received the $400 required for conference from one member today.  The deadline is Dec. 1st.  Have a great week!

ASCE General Meeting this Thursday

There will be a short ASCE meeting this Thursday (11/13) during convo in P-109 (there will be no meeting next week as previously scheduled because Oregon DOT will be coming with a presentation and lunch on Tuesday, 11/18 during convo).  The following items are on the agenda:
 
1.  List of highly likely folks going to conference (contingent upon $400 due by Dec. 1st for each student)
2.  Taco Night Sign-up
3.  Region 9 Video Fundraiser
4.  Tower Pizza Fundraiser on Dec. 3rd, Wednesday.

Ruby and the Rockits

ASCE|LMU will be attending a taping of Ruby and the Rockits tomorrow. The taping will be at CBS Radford Studios.

Please meet at the Civil Lab tomorrow, November 1, at 2:45 p.m. to be ready to carpool.

City of Los Angeles Presentation

The City of Los Angeles will be on campus to present this week on Thursday, October 23rd.

The presentation will be in Pereira 140 at 12:15 p.m.

ASCE yearbook photo will be taken on Tuesday, Nov. 4th, at 1:15 pm. Please dress professionally.
